Why we should pray for persecuted Christians and lift our brothers and sisters in Christ up in prayer.

Praying for persecuted Christians and supporting the persecuted Church is a very important act of faith and solidarity. Around the world, millions of of our brothers and sisters in Christ face imprisonment, violence, discrimination, and even death for their commitment to God.

As members of the global church, we are called to “remember those in prison as if you were together with them” (Hebrews 13:3).

Prayer is one of the most powerful ways to uplift and strengthen those suffering for their faith. By interceding for them, we ask God to grant them courage, strength, endurance, and protection. Additionally, organizations such as ICR Canada can support the persecuted church through practical means, such as providing humanitarian aid, providing Bibles, support with legal aid, emergency relief, and pastoral care.

Many persecuted Christians lack access to resources, yet their faith remains unshaken. Our prayers and support remind them that they are not alone—that the body of Christ stands with them. Raising awareness by sharing their stories also amplifies their voices and encourages advocacy for religious freedom.

While persecution is a painful reality, it often strengthens faith and spreads the gospel. By committing to pray and act, we partner with God’s mission, demonstrating His love  to those who suffer for His name.
